Gel candle making is part chemistry, part arrangement. You pour heated gel wax into glass containers, position decorative elements — colored sand, dried flowers, miniature wax figures — inside the clear medium, and set a wick. The transparency of the gel lets you see every layer, so each design choice stays visible in the finished piece.
At GIGIPAYNE Studio in Bangkok, this one-hour workshop runs as a private session for corporate teams, organisations, and group bookings. Each person works on their own candle, choosing from a range of glass vessels, colored gel, decorations, and fragrance oils. The pace is social and low-pressure — your group works side by side, and guidance is there when you need it.
No craft experience is needed. The process suits mixed-ability groups well — everyone ends up with something worth keeping. You leave with a finished gel candle, set and ready to take home.
Your Creative Project
During the workshop you will create one decorated gel candle.
Techniques & Materials
Participants will practice the full gel candle making process step by step.
Participants will learn how to:
Prepare and heat gel wax to the correct temperature
Layer colored sand and gel inside a glass vessel
Position decorative elements — dried flowers, miniature wax figures
Set and centre a wick for even burning
Control gel clarity and prevent air bubbles
All materials are provided, including:
Glass vessels in different shapes
Colored gel wax and colored sand
Dried flowers and miniature wax figures
Wicks and wick holders
