Overview
Discover the traditional Japanese textile technique of katazome, where intricate patterns are created using hand-cut stencils and resist paste before dyeing fabric.
In this hands-on workshop at GIGIPAYNE Studio in Bangkok, you will learn how to apply stencil designs, use rice paste as a resist, and dye fabric with natural indigo dye. The process combines precision and creativity, producing detailed patterns with the distinctive deep blue tones of indigo.
This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in Japanese textile traditions, pattern design, or natural dyeing techniques. By the end of the session, you will complete your own indigo-dyed textile while learning the fundamentals of this historic stencil dyeing method.
