Overview
Discover the tactile craft of hand weaving, where threads are interlaced to create textured textiles and decorative patterns.
In this hands-on workshop at GIGIPAYNE Studio in Bangkok, you will learn how to weave using a simple frame loom while experimenting with different yarns, colors, and textures. The rhythmic process of weaving makes it both relaxing and creatively rewarding.
This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in textile crafts, fiber art, or slow creative practices. By the end of the session, you will complete a small woven textile piece that can be displayed as wall décor or used in future craft projects.
Techniques & Materials
Participants will learn the essential techniques used in hand weaving.
You will learn how to:
Set up warp threads on a frame loom
Use basic weaving structures such as plain weave
Build texture using different fibers and yarns
Create simple tapestry-style patterns
All materials are provided, including:
Frame looms for weaving
Yarn and fiber materials in various textures and colors
Weaving tools and needles
Pattern references and design guidance
Throughout the workshop you will experiment with different fiber combinations while developing your woven design.
Your Creative Project
During the workshop you will create a handwoven textile piece.
Participants will:
Set up a small weaving project on a frame loom
Experiment with color, texture, and pattern
Finish and remove the woven piece from the loom
You will leave with a handmade woven artwork such as a mini tapestry or small wall hanging.
