I did indigo dyeing, and it was an amazing workshop. Gigi was such a great teacher. Her art is impressive, she was patient, kind, and very communicative. I got lucky because I booked last minute, so I got a private class, and I could really see Gigi’s passion ang love for art in my experience. Thank you!!

The studio is nice and spacious, leaving full room for everyone's creative frenzy. I would recommend this experience to everyone and look forward to participating in a new workshop again soon.

Been there today, amazing experience! Thank you so much

Fold cotton, bind it with string, dip it into natural indigo — and watch the dye bloom on the fabric as it hits air. Shibori is the Japanese art of resist dyeing, where every fold, knot, or stitch blocks the indigo from reaching the cloth. What stays white becomes the pattern. The technique is ancient, but the results feel alive — no two pieces ever come out the same.

At GIGIPAYNE Studio in Bangkok, you work through several shibori methods on natural indigo. You fold, bind, and clamp your fabric using traditional resist techniques, dip it into the indigo bath, and watch the color shift from green to deep blue as it oxidizes in the air. The magic happens when you untie the bindings and see the pattern your hands made.

A calm, tactile afternoon for anyone drawn to Japanese textile craft, natural dyeing, or patient hands-on work. You leave with a set of indigo-dyed pieces — a t-shirt, a scarf, and a few handkerchiefs — and the knowledge to fold, bind, and do it again at home.

Your Creative Project

During the session, you fold, bind, and dip your way through several shibori techniques using natural indigo. You leave with three hand-dyed pieces — each with its own unique indigo pattern shaped by how you tied and folded the fabric:

  • T-shirt

  • Cotton shawl (175×80 cm)

  • Cotton bandana (50×50 cm)
